Dykon Blasting

Project Details

Just to the southeast of Moundsville, WV this pipeline project yielded itself to predominately greenfield right of way for the double lay 24 inch pipeline. This job was another excessively winch heavy operation where at one point 12 dozers and 3 track hoes were latched together to support John Henry drilling operations down the side of the mountain. With elevation changes nearing 1000’ in less than a quarter mile, it was common to see morookas and drills being winched with blasters rappelling to load the holes. A short project of just 6.2 miles took nearly 4 months to complete while just to the west of the state line, 90 mile tracts took the same. When in the mountains safety is the key and Dykon lives by the adage that “slow is smooth and smooth is fast.”
