PROJECT DETAILS

This pipeline project was an arduous 4.44 miles of blasting in eastern Ohio which paralleled an existing high-pressure natural gas line from 20 to 25 feet. Made up of a series of 24 winch hills and with limited working area in a 50 feet wide right of way, the jobsite was riddled with complexities. Nearly 80% of the line required blasting due to the multiple geological formations found throughout project.  Every blast was viewed as a site-specific plan and disruption zone calculations were completed to protect the in ground pipe over the course of 40 shots. In addition to the blasting, a 300’ long retaining wall was constructed using John Henry drills. 10 to 20 feet deep holes were drilled followed by the emplacement of thick wall tubular steel with crane mats to prevent future slips in a previously stabilized area.
