Dykon Blasting

PROJECT DETAILS

Floodwaters on the Arkansas River eroded the ground around electrical energy transmission towers causing them to collapse.  The weight of the fallen towers created a critical amount of tension on the land-based towers on both sides of the river.  The tension on the wires was in danger of causing a cascading tower failure for thousands of feet in both directions.    The safest and fastest way to get the power lines down was by explosively severing the powerlines and allowing them to fall freely to the ground where they could be retrieved and salvaged.  On July 10th, 2019, Dykon Blasting successfully severed the critically tight power lines on both sides of the river simultaneously thus helping to save the existing towers, prevent their collapse, and stop the hazard to river traffic passing underneath.
