Owasso, OK | 2015

We are gaining on progress on the southbound phase of our 169 job and looking ahead to the demolition of the remaining northbound truss bridge. Right now, we are tentatively looking at mid-summer 2016 as the target shot date. I was wondering if you guys will be onboard for shooting this one down, since you did an awesome job on the first one.

Becco Contractors, Inc.

PROJECT DETAILS

Road improvements on Highway 169 called for new bridges over Bird Creek near Owasso, OK.  The instillation of the new and wider bridges called for the old overhead steel truss bridge to come down.  Dykon was contacted by Becco Contractors to devise a demolition plan for the removal.  Time was of the essence for the demolition portion.  A new bridge was to be built in the footprint of the old bridge.  Conventional demolition with a crane and torch was weighed with the explosive demolition option.  Becco decided that the explosive demolition would be the safest method as well as save them valuable time on their schedule.

Dykon engineered a plan to explosively sever the main span and the two approach spans allowing them to drop to the ground where the contractors crews could safely dismantle it.
