PROJECT DETAILS
The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority has completed the construction of the Creek Turnpike. It merges with Hwy 412 and Interstate 44, east of Tulsa, Oklahoma. All three highways were converged at one location just south of the old Turnpike gate on Interstate 44. TTK Construction Company, of Oklahoma City had the prime contract for the construction of the intersection and the new highway construction tying into both Interstate 44 and Hwy 412.
Part of the excavation involved widening Hwy 412 at a bottleneck at the I-44 junction. The south side of the embankment had a 27 foot deep rock mass and had to be excavated. TTK Construction contacted Dykon Blasting Corp. to perform the drilling and blasting of this rock.
This project called for the excavation of the rock without long traffic delays due to the blasting. Temporary concrete barriers were set up to keep traffic to the far side of the active highway while we worked. Much of this project required 27 feet of rock to be removed with only the distance of one lane of traffic between the blasting and the barrier.
TTK Construction worked seamlessly towards the successful completion of this project. Traffic control and clearing of shot rock off the highway after the shots was a major contributing factor in the success of this project. Dykon Blasting Corp. would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude towards TTK Construction, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for their trust and cooperation towards us during this project. We look forward to working with these fine organizations again in the future.
