Dykon Blasting

PROJECT DETAILS

This unique pipeline project consisted of 99 miles of 24” natural gas pipeline for Williams Transcontinental. The project falls under the FERC regulations and is running from Chatham to Freeman Virginia where the new 24” pipeline is paralleling an existing 20” gas line for 91 miles. Dykon was hired  to manage all of the drilling and blasting on this project, which traversed a variety of terrains.

More specifically, Dykon blasted nearly 400 times on this project! In doing so, Dykon drilled and blasted over 59,000 feet of rock. Utilized over 130,000 pounds of explosives and blasted over 18,000 holes with the vast majority of this blasting taking place within 20’ of an existing gas line.  We live for this close proximity blasting!
