Dykon Blasting

PROJECT DETAILS

In 2012, Dykon was contracted to perform drilling and blasting for the Lonoke White Public Water Authority in Arkansas. This project had many challenges, most of which was blasting the water intake that was located out into Greers Ferry Lake. The project required working inside a PortaDam which was to keep the lake water at bay while the work continued. The project consisted of two parts: the trench leading out of the intake and intake structure itself. The mass rock was an area of 70’ long x 55’ wide x 15’ deep. The precision drilling and blasting took place while fighting the constant influx of water from the surrounding lake.
